Spring is in the air...at least for now.

February has passed so quickly - it is hard to believe it the 28th. However, the weather does slowly seem to be turning to spring and I am very excited about that prospect.

Valentines this year we chose to go low key in regards to gifts. I got flowers and candy (a few days early when I wasn't expecting them - Loved it!).

Lowell got a desk drawer organizer, similar to one he had been eying in my "Real Simple" book.
We then ventured to Washington D.C. for the day. First stop - the American History Smithsonian. It has been closed since we moved here and I was so excited to see explore. Apparently - so was the rest of the East Coast. The place was packed with lines to get into almost every exhibit (even the "come and go" exhibits that usually don't have lines). We still enjoyed ourselves and explored the top floor exhibits, including America at War, a small entertainment exhibit, and the American Presidency. My favorite was the Presidency exhibit, including the White House Weddings area. We also enjoyed some of the political signs and buttons from past political campaigns.
Too bad Pennsylvania stayed liberal and I don't see many displays of integrity on either side of the political spectrum.

Self Explanatory.

Presidential board games!

Gotta Love Oscar the Grouch!

After a rousing afternoon, Lowell and I took our freeze-dried ice-cream to the National Mall and enjoyed people watching. I practiced my photographic skills at sunset.

And we ended the day here:

The rest of February was spent working and compiling more of our food storage. I think we have successfully compiled our "long-term" storage, now if I could just get a handle on the 3-month supply and the baking items (yeast, oils, etc) needed for "long-term" I think we would be good to go. Oh, and there was a brief modeling shoot of a new coat, that has since been returned. I really need to make-up my mind before I buy things.
Now let's see what March brings!

Well my friends

it has been a long time since I have written. Lowell kept saying he had a blog to write and therefore I kept waiting...and waiting...and waiting. Then I gave up and started typing. Good thing I love him even though he didn't write the blog, maybe I can convince him to sit down and write tonight while I indulge in a chocolate fountain. Then my lucky readers - you would have two blogs in one day from us. Novel thought.

Work is going well - however I do not understand teenage boys in any way shape or form. I didn't understand them in high school and certainly don't now. I have a group of boys that frequently visit me 8th period (and by visit, I mean they get kicked out of the same class). They have been versing my on the joys of Pennsylvania teenager slang - which I am pretty sure is not the same stuff that was used in Idaho 5-10 years ago. Most recently I picked up "That's G" for "that's gangasta." Who says that - really?

Yesterday I was told my last name was "gutter*." When I told the kid that was not very nice and I was quite offended he quickly reassured me that that was a good thing. ""Gutter" is like being "G" Mrs. ____" (please excuse my lame attempt at privacy by not filling in the last name).

I just laughed.

And since every blog is better with a picture - maybe those boys are on to something.

Don't even get me started on the girls - that post is for another day.

*I am 99.9% sure that the kid said "gutter" and I even asked twice for clarification to make sure I had heard the right thing, because it doesn't make sense whatsoever, but the kid assured me I was right. Also, please note that there are two other Mrs. ____s in the school, and I am the only one with the "gutter" designation - I don't know if that is a good thing or not.
