Western Idaho Fair

I love the fair...I mean it is usually hot and way overpriced, but there is just something about the fair. Particularly Idaho fairs. We took advantage of Family Day with my family in late August and had a blast.
My Parents
Sorry Steph...

Take me out to the ball game...take two

When we first moved to Idaho, Lowell asked if they had a baseball team so we could take Tanner to a game. I said they did and that was that.

Then in August a Groupon popped up for 1/2 price tickets to see the Boise Hawks. We jumped on the chance and took Tanner to his second baseball game ever (probably my second one too). He enjoyed watching the Phillies so much last year, we figured this would be an experience.

He enjoyed the stairs and the stadium...as for the game. Not so much. We left in the 4th inning because the park was getting crowded and our little guy wanted to wander.

Overall it was a fun family evening - however I don't think we will try anymore baseball games for a few years. :)

Loves his mom. Dad is not often a recipient of such kisses.

Portland!

Labor Day weekend we ventured up to Portland to visit Lowell's brother Keith, sister-in-law Arianne and our adorable nieces Kallie and Charlotte.

Meeting the cousins (well, he met them last August, but at only 3 months old he had no clue what was going on)- apparently the metronome is the only thing that would keep Tanner in the chair.
First stop, the Oregon Coast and Tanner's first trip to the Pacific Ocean. (Both the Atlantic and Pacific in his 15 short months on earth - something that took many years to do).

Tanner LOVED the beach. The water was too cold for his liking but the sand - oh he loved the sand. As we were leaving we had to walk up a huge sand hill and I had Tanner while Lowell was carrying other stuff. I had to put him down for a minute and he just started rolling around and laying his head in the sand. I am still finding pieces of sand in his ears. But - he had a blast.
Please note how Tanner doesn't even look panicked as he falls backward.

Sunday we had a nice quiet day. Keith cooked a yummy brisket on his pellet grill/smoker (I am not sure what is it called).

Monday it was time for us to head home - but not without a stop at VooDoo Doughnuts. The Bacon Maple Bar was yummy, Lowell said it was very "American." Lowell forgot to order the Raspberry Romeo I wanted to try, however that gives us an excuse to go again. :) Tanner got right in on the doughnut action - after being introduced to Oreos by my mom he knew exactly what the black and white cookies covering one of the doughnuts were and he dove right in for that one. Kallie just loved the fact the whole place was pink - even the lines in the parking lot were pink.

Thank you Keith and Arianne for a great weekend! Hope to see you again soon.
